Atlas Divers Malapascua is a bright, modern base on Bounty Beach and fits divers who want Malapascua’s thresher sharks with an easy island setup. The centre is an SSI Diamond Center, also offers PADI programmes and sits right in the small dive world that made Malapascua famous.
Shark diving
The main reason to dive with Atlas is the same as the island itself: pelagic thresher sharks. Kimud Shoal and Monad Shoal are the names around which almost everything revolves. Early in the morning, boats head out to cleaning stations where threshers may rise from deeper water.
Atlas also presents the region as a place with other possible big fish and shark species. Tiger sharks, grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, whale sharks and hammerheads are included in the metadata, but not described as equally reliable. The thresher shark is the island’s real promise; everything else depends more on season, current, depth and luck.
Area and trips
Beyond the shoals, Malapascua has enough variety for several days: Gato Island with caves and reef sharks, local reefs, macro sites and easier afternoon or night dives. Atlas is therefore not just a base for one famous shark dive, but for a compact mix of big fish, training, island atmosphere and classic Visayas diving.
