Thresher Shark Divers

Thresher Shark Divers sits right on Bounty Beach in Malapascua, where many dive days begin long before sunrise. It is a strong choice for travellers who come to Cebu specifically for sharks. Malapascua is one of the few places in the world where pelagic thresher sharks can be seen with real regularity.

Shark diving

The key dive is Kimud Shoal. Pelagic thresher sharks rise from deep water to the cleaning stations and, with calm buoyancy and good positioning, can pass surprisingly close. These encounters are not a show and not a feeding dive; they are quiet wildlife moments with blue water, early light and that unmistakable scythe-shaped tail.

The thresher shark is the heart of the programme, but not the only shark possibility around Malapascua. Gato Island adds whitetip reef sharks in caves and under ledges, Kimud and Monad can produce tiger sharks or other large species, and technically qualified divers have deeper profiles with further big-shark potential.

Area and trips

Malapascua is small but varied underwater. Beyond the shoals, the programme can include Gato Island, wrecks, local reefs, night dives and macro sites. Thresher sharks are a year-round theme rather than a short seasonal gamble, so several dive days give the island a much better chance to show what makes it special.
