Peter’s Dive Resort is in Lungsodaan near Padre Burgos on Sogod Bay. The bay is one of Southern Leyte’s most interesting dive regions, with reefs, walls, protected areas, small islands and a calmer rhythm than many better-known Philippine spots. For shark-minded travellers, the key species here is the whale shark.
Whale sharks in Sogod Bay
Sogod Bay is not a fed show site, but a natural whale shark area with seasonal chances. Peter’s Dive Resort is well placed for this and gives the main period as roughly mid-November to early May. Several days in this window create a much better setup than a single attempt.
Important whale-shark note
The whale shark trip is snorkeling, not scuba diving. Local rules prohibit scuba during the interaction. In the database, Peter’s is therefore not a classic shark-dive operator, but a dive base in a strong whale-shark region where the actual whale shark encounter takes place at the surface.
Area and trips
Even without whale sharks, Sogod Bay is a rewarding dive destination. Napantao, Limasawa Island, Medicare North and South, Max Climax and other sites bring coral gardens, walls, macro life and calm tropical reef diving together. Peter’s works well for travellers who want whale sharks as the highlight without making every day depend on one sighting.
