Ras Musandam Diver is based in Khasab in northern Oman. The center opens up a very different Oman dive area from Muscat: fjords, steep coasts, islands, reefs and boat diving around the Musandam peninsula.
Shark diving
For shark-minded divers, Musandam is interesting mainly for whale sharks and zebra sharks. Whale sharks can appear in the warm season in nutrient-rich water, often as a surface or snorkelling encounter around the boat trip. Zebra sharks fit more naturally into normal dive profiles over sand, reefs and coral structures.
Encounters remain condition-dependent. Divers who plan several days in the area have more room for weather, visibility and current, and experience Musandam as a varied fjord-and-reef region rather than a single shark search.
Area and season
For whale sharks, the warm period from spring to autumn is the most interesting window in Musandam. Zebra sharks can occur throughout the year, though every sighting depends on the specific site and conditions.
Ras Musandam Diver is especially suitable for divers who want to experience Oman away from the Muscat route: less city, more fjord landscape, boat days and a strong sense of wild coastline.
