MolaMola Diving Center is based directly at Al Mouj Marina in Muscat. The base suits divers who want quick access to the Daymaniyat Islands and Fahal Island: PADI courses, fun dives, Nitrox, snorkelling trips and boat dives all start close to the city.
Shark diving
For shark encounters, the mix of Daymaniyat and Fahal is the interesting part. Around the Daymaniyat Islands, coral gardens, turtles, rays, zebra sharks and, in the warm plankton season, whale sharks are the main draw. Fahal Island, often called Shark Island locally, adds the reef-shark and big-fish side with blacktip reef sharks, barracuda, rays and other larger fish.
Whale sharks in Oman are usually a surface story: with luck, they appear during the boat trip or while snorkelling as they feed in plankton. Zebra sharks and blacktip reef sharks fit better into classic dive profiles over shallow reefs, sand patches and coral gardens.
Area and season
For whale sharks, July to September is the key window. General diving around Muscat is broader: October to May often brings more comfortable temperatures and calmer conditions, while summer can be biologically exciting but hotter and more changeable.
MolaMola is therefore a good fit for several dive days rather than just a single target species. Daymaniyat brings the protected area, turtles, reefs and seasonal whale sharks; Fahal adds the Muscat-area shark and big-fish option.
