Reef Tours Okinawa is an English-speaking operator for scuba, snorkelling and island programmes from Okinawa. For experienced divers, the separate Yonaguni hammerhead tours are the shark highlight. The wider programme covers Okinawa reefs, islands and clear tropical water.
Shark diving
The shark focus is scuba drift diving with scalloped hammerheads off Yonaguni. The conservative season is the core winter and early spring period, especially January to March. These dives are for experienced divers: blue water, current, deeper profiles and moving animals define the tour. Around Kerama, sharks may appear occasionally but are more of a bonus than the target.
Kerama and island programmes
Outside the hammerhead trips, Okinawa’s island reefs take over. Kerama, local reefs, snorkelling trips, coral, turtles and tropical reef fish form the more general part of the programme. This is much more accessible than Yonaguni and suits mixed groups with different experience levels.
