Ocean Dream Divers is based on Beau Vallon beach in Mare Anglaise, directly beside Mike’s Store. The German- and English-speaking dive center offers PADI courses for beginners and advanced divers, guided dives and, on request, accommodation on Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
Sharks at the dive sites of Beau Vallon
The center’s own website lists sharks and seasonal whale sharks among the possible encounters. Whitetip reef sharks are one of the species that may occur year-round at the granite and reef sites of northern Mahé. The sites visited depend on weather, currents and the divers’ experience.
Whale sharks appear mainly from August to November along the west coast of Mahé, often with the strongest chances in September and October. Ocean Dream Divers explicitly describes an encounter as a matter of luck. It does not offer a specialized whale shark excursion or a sighting guarantee.
Season and dive operations
Reef diving is possible throughout the year. The transitions between the trade winds in April and May and in October and November are often particularly calm and make more distant sites easier to reach. From May to September, the sea can be rougher and plankton may reduce visibility while also helping to create the conditions for whale shark season.
The program includes dives at granite formations, coral reefs and several wrecks, as well as PADI training.
