A 43-year-old man was bitten on the lower leg by a shark off Boca Grande Key in the lower Florida on 23 August 2026. According to a FOX 35 report, the incident occurred at about 5 p.m. near a recreational boat.
Several nurses happened to be on Boca Grande Key and treated the wound. A privately operated boat then took the injured person aboard. A fundraiser organised by Robyn Corliss adds that Daniel underwent operations on 23 and 25 August and is expected to be unable to walk for six to eight weeks before extensive physical therapy. It also says he had been fishing while standing in shallow water and was bitten by a nurse shark.
