A swimmer was bitten on the lower leg by a shark off Boca Grande Key in the lower Florida on 23 August 2026. According to a FOX 35 report, the incident occurred at about 5 p.m. near a recreational boat.
Several nurses happened to be on Boca Grande Key and treated the wound. A privately operated boat then took the injured person aboard. A boat from US Coast Guard Station Key West escorted the transport until emergency medical services could take over. The person’s condition was described as stable at that time.
