The Reef Oasis Dive Club on Grand Bahama is a PADI 5★ dive centre located in the south of the island, directly on the grounds of the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach Resort. The dive base offers daily boat dives, snorkelling trips, pool training, and full PADI training up to Divemaster level. All dives are professionally supervised and, of course, insured. The house reef – Ben’s Blue Hole – is easily accessible and offers ideal conditions for first underwater explorations.
An experienced international team accompanies both beginners and advanced divers, placing particular emphasis on safety, professionalism, and individual experience.
Diving with tiger sharks – adrenaline guaranteed
A highlight for experienced divers is undoubtedly the trip to the famous Tiger Beach on the northwest coast of Grand Bahama. Here, there is the extraordinary opportunity to encounter tiger sharks (Galeocerdo cuvier) in the wild – and in one of the world’s most renowned regions for shark diving. The animals, which can grow over five metres long, often appear remarkably calm and curious towards divers.
The sandy bottom and excellent visibility make these encounters not only safe but also spectacular for photography. The Reef Oasis Dive Club regularly organises trips to this fascinating location, accompanied by experienced guides and shark experts who know the behaviour of the animals well. In addition to the majestic tiger sharks, divers can also observe lemon sharks and nurse sharks – an experience you’ll never forget.
Shark Alley – home of the Caribbean reef sharks
Another must for shark fans is the dive site Shark Alley, a colourful coral reef at about 15 metres depth. Here, Caribbean reef sharks (Carcharhinus perezi) dominate the underwater scene. These fast, elegant hunters are a permanent part of the region’s community and often appear in groups. Particularly impressive is their confident but non-aggressive behaviour – they glide close to divers without fear but also without haste.
Visibility in Shark Alley is usually excellent, which not only allows for impressive animal encounters but also creates perfect conditions for underwater photography. In addition to sharks, divers regularly encounter large snappers, groupers, and sometimes even stingrays.
More than just sharks – training and support at the highest level
The Reef Oasis Dive Club offers not only exciting shark dives but also comprehensive training and further education. Everything from beginner courses to Divemaster is possible – of course, according to PADI standards and in multiple languages. Those who want to engage more intensively with sharks can take part in a special Shark Diver course, which focuses on theory, behavioural analysis, and safe interaction.
All dives take place under professional supervision, with the highest safety standards and individual care being a matter of course. The equipment is modern and well-maintained, the team is helpful and experienced – ideal conditions for unforgettable diving adventures.
