Encounter on the beach
A 21-year-old man was severely injured in a shark attack over the 4th of July weekend on the beach in Nantucket, Massachusetts. According to reports from the Nantucket Current, the young angler was fishing from the shore when he hooked a shark.
He pulled the animal onto land and tried to release it back into the sea. During this, the shark bit him and severely injured his leg.
Rapid medical care
The victim’s friends initially took him to a local hospital. Due to the severity of the injuries, he was later flown by helicopter to the mainland for further treatment.
