Atlantic Shark Expeditions combines shark watching and cage diving off Nova Scotia with scientific work. The all-day trips from Lower West Pubnico are accompanied by a crew of marine biologists and give guests an insight into research on the sharks of the Canadian Atlantic.
Shark diving for research and wildlife encounters
The surface cage holds up to four people. Breathing air is delivered via hoses from the surface, so scuba diving certification is not required. If you want to stay dry, you can look for the animals from the deck or from the elevated observation platform of the Apex Explorer.
Depending on the season, great white sharks, blue sharks, shortfin mako sharks and porbeagle sharks are possible. Great White Shark trips published for 2027 range from July 5th to October 15th. Sightings cannot be guaranteed; The provider expects the early season in particular to have fewer chances of meeting.
Expedition day from Lower West Pubnico
Meeting point is at Dennis Point Café. The time for the great white shark trips is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mask, 7mm suit, gloves, hood and booties are provided; Snacks are included, while accommodation and travel to the port must be organized yourself.
The Apex Explorer is around twelve meters long and can accommodate a maximum of twelve guests. On the open sea, the boat is constantly in motion and entry into the cage is via a ladder. Anyone with balance or mobility limitations should discuss suitability directly before booking.
