A 38-year-old man was seriously injured in a shark attack on Saturday morning off the coast of Honolulu, Hawaii. The incident occurred at Cromwell’s Beach, prompting authorities to issue warnings for several beaches.
According to local emergency services, Honolulu Emergency Medical Services received the call on Saturday, 30 May 2026, at around 6:30 a.m. Rescuers found the victim, a 38-year-old surfer, with severe bite wounds to his lower extremities. Authorities said emergency crews provided life-saving first aid at the scene.
“The patient was then transported to a nearby hospital in serious but stable condition,” emergency services said, according to media reports.
Authorities warn of aggressive sharks
Following the incident, Honolulu’s Ocean Safety Division immediately issued shark warnings for the area around Cromwell’s Beach, near the well-known Diamond Head. Emergency personnel confirmed the sighting of an “aggressive shark” in the surf zone, which witnesses described as a tiger shark about 2.5 meters long.
Shortly afterward, at around 7:20 a.m., another warning was issued for the surf spot Ala Moana Bowls. Lifeguards there reported two more aggressive sharks in the line-up. Warning signs were posted on the affected beach sections, and the public was urgently advised to stay out of the water and follow lifeguard instructions.
