Rocket Frog Divers

Rocket Frog Divers is a renowned dive center in the province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, known for excellent service and first-class diving experiences. With its location in Playas del Coco, the center offers access to some of the country’s best dive sites, including the Bat Islands and the Catalina Islands. Whether beginner or experienced diver, Rocket Frog Divers promises unforgettable underwater adventures in the Pacific Ocean.

General information

Rocket Frog Divers is a PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Center, operating since 2011 and additionally certified by SDI and NAUI. The center is known for its fleet of six dive boats specially built for diving, including the “Pacific Express” with two 250 HP Yamaha engines, reaching sites such as the Bat Islands in just 50 minutes. The crew consists of experienced dive instructors who speak several languages, including German, English, Spanish, and French, and who focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

The offer includes:

  • PADI dive courses from Open Water Diver to Divemaster
  • Diving trips to the Bat Islands, Catalina Islands, and local reefs in the Gulf of Papagayo
  • Snorkeling trips for non-divers
  • Equipment rental, including Nitrox and children’s gear
  • Facilities such as training pool, air-conditioned classroom, and free Wi-Fi

The dive sites in the region are known for their diversity, with visibility ranging from 5 to 30 meters and water temperatures varying between 20 and 28 degrees Celsius. A 3-mm wetsuit is recommended, as strong thermoclines can occur.

Diving with Sharks

A highlight at Rocket Frog Divers is diving with sharks, especially at the Bat Islands (Islas Murciélagos), a protected marine reserve near Santa Rosa National Park. These islands are one of the few places in Costa Rica where divers can regularly encounter bull sharks, particularly at the dive site “Big Scare.” The Bat Islands are suitable for advanced divers, as currents and waves can be challenging. In addition to bull sharks, the dive sites offer sightings of white-tip reef sharks, manta rays, and occasionally even whale sharks.

The dives are led by experienced divemasters such as Nico or Matt, who are praised for their clear communication and focus on safety. Customers report impressive encounters with large schools of fish, turtles, and moray eels alongside the sharks. Rocket Frog Divers regularly organizes trips to the Bat Islands (March to December), and the fast boats make these remote dive sites accessible. One diver described the experience as “luxurious” and highlighted the professional care provided by the crew.

For all adventure seekers, Rocket Frog Divers offers a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of sharks in Costa Rica, supported by first-class equipment and guides who make every experience unforgettable.
