Fluid Divecenter

Fluid Tahiti, officially “Fluid Plongée Tahiti,” is a dive center located in Marina Taina in Punaauia on Tahiti (French Polynesia). It was founded in 2002 by Yannis St Pe and has since established itself as a renowned provider. The center describes itself as a “friendly dive center that takes the time to care for its guests.” The experienced team places great importance on respectful interaction with the underwater world.

Offer for divers

Fluid Tahiti offers dive excursions both in the lagoon and at oceanic reefs. At around fifteen different dive sites, divers can discover a rich underwater world with corals, wrecks, caves, and a wide variety of marine species. Some sites allow deep dives of up to about 50 meters to admire colorful gorgonians and coral roses. During each trip, divers are provided with light snacks and refreshments. The boats are docked right next to the dive shop on the pier, allowing divers to gear up comfortably and board directly.

For beginners, the center organizes guided introductory dives. Newcomers can make their first “bubbles” under safe conditions. The Discover Scuba Diving program includes two dives; the first dive is always supervised by an instructor (maximum of two students). Those who wish to go further can enroll in international SSI certification courses. All necessary rental equipment is fully available – as the center emphasizes, you “just grab your gear and hop on board.”

Other special offers

In addition to diving, Fluid Tahiti also organizes other ocean activities. Between August and November (whale season), three-hour whale-watching tours are offered, during which experienced guides share fascinating information about humpback whales. Often, guests can get very close to the whales—and with a bit of luck, even swim with them. Outside of whale season, a three-hour snorkeling tour offers the chance to see coral gardens, turtles, and wrecks—sharks, rays, or dolphins are also occasionally spotted. In the evening, guests can enjoy Tahiti’s colorful sunset during a 90-minute boat ride. A homemade cocktail is included, followed by an Italian-Polynesian dinner at the “La Casa Bianca” restaurant, with a taxi service back to the hotel.

The multilingual team at Fluid Tahiti speaks not only French and English, but also German. Overall, the center places great importance on personalized service and safety—the trained dive instructors ensure a smooth and secure experience in every situation.

Shark diving with Fluid Tahiti

Shark diving is a special highlight at Fluid Tahiti. Around ten different shark species are regularly found in the waters off Tahiti. During full-day guided diving excursions (three dives), divers specifically visit shark habitats. Common encounters include grey reef sharks, blacktip and whitetip reef sharks, lemon sharks, and nurse sharks – and occasionally even a tiger shark. Even during snorkeling tours, lucky divers may spot sharks. The dive sites “La Source” (known for turtles) and “La Vallée Blanche” (known for sharks) are especially famous and rewarding.

Well-equipped boats are available for shark encounters. For example, the catamaran dive boat “Zebubbles” (20 persons) can be used for special shark excursions, such as a full-day tiger shark dive. Fluid Tahiti even offers a private program called “Tahiti Shark Dive Adventure” – a full-day trip for up to 5 divers. Together with the center’s certified, experienced dive instructors, the highest level of safety and professionalism is ensured. The sharks are not viewed in cages, but observed freely in their natural environment – always under professional supervision and with the utmost respect for the animals.
