Encounter on the beach
A 21-year-old man was seriously injured in a shark attack on the weekend of July 4 at a beach in Nantucket, Massachusetts. According to reports from the Nantucket Current, the young angler had been fishing from the shore when he hooked a shark.
He pulled the animal onto land and tried to return it to the sea. In the process, the shark bit him, causing severe injuries to his leg.
Rapid medical care
Friends of the victim first took him to a local hospital. Due to the severity of the injury, he was then flown by helicopter to the mainland for further treatment.
