Life & Dive is a dive centre in Costa Rica and offers dives in some of the most exciting areas of the Pacific coast. The region is known for volcanic rock formations, large schools of fish, rays, manta rays and, seasonally, encounters with larger marine animals.
Diving with sharks
For shark fans the region’s diversity is particularly interesting. Whitetip reef sharks can be seen relatively regularly around Costa Rica and often rest in caves or under rock ledges. In the appropriate season there are also trips to sites where, with a bit of luck, bull sharks can be observed.
The best chances of seeing bull sharks are mainly from May to September, especially around the Bat Islands. Hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks and Galápagos sharks are more associated with distant offshore areas like Cocos Island and are not typical of daily dives along the coast.
More highlights
Besides sharks, the region offers many other special encounters underwater. Depending on the season, divers can encounter large rays, manta rays, turtles, moray eels, schooling fish and, with some luck, even whale sharks or humpback whales.
- November to May: often better visibility and good chances of spotting manta rays
- July to October: humpback whale season in the region
- Year-round: reef sharks, rays, turtles and tropical fish species
Life & Dive is therefore particularly suitable for divers who want to explore Costa Rica’s Pacific coast and, alongside varied reefs, are also looking for the chance to encounter larger marine animals.
